Conditions & Notices
- Fasting is not required, but the method of collecting and transporting the sample is the deciding factor for success.
- The sample must be collected sterilely from the deep source of infection, avoiding contamination by natural flora.
- Special oxygen-free transport containers should be used, and ordinary dry cotton swabs should not be used if possible.
- The sample must be transported to the laboratory very quickly (within 30 minutes if possible) and not refrigerated.
