- Fasting is not required
- The hair sample should be collected from the roots (closest to the scalp) to obtain a recent chronological record of exposure.
- Avoid using anti-dandruff shampoo or special hair treatments (dye, perm) for at least one week before taking the sample if possible, and inform the laboratory of any recent chemical treatments.
- Store the sample in a clean paper bag and send to the laboratory.
