- • Fasting is not required: in general, but it is preferable to fast for 8-12 hours to get optimal results for some markers, and the instructions of the laboratory or doctor should be followed.
- • Avoid smoking: more than an hour before the test if possible, as smoking may raise CEA levels.
- Menstrual cycle timing: For CA 125, levels may rise slightly during the menstrual cycle or in cases of endometriosis. Informing your doctor about your menstrual history and gynecological conditions is important.
