Conditions & Notices

  • Fasting: You must fast for 8-12 hours before having your blood drawn for a fasting glucose test. Water is permitted. The other tests in the package are not affected by fasting.
  • Urine sample: It is best to collect a midstream urine sample (the first sample of the morning is ideal). There is no need to urinate first or hold your urine for an extended period.
  • Diabetes medications: Consult your doctor. Generally, do not take diabetes medications (tablets or insulin) on the morning of the test until the blood sample has been taken, and eat breakfast immediately afterward.
  • Physical activity: Avoid strenuous exercise 24 hours before the test, as it may affect the urine and creatinine results.
