Conditions & Notices
- Mandatory fasting: You must fast for 10-12 hours before the sample is taken to obtain accurate fasting glucose and lipid results. Water is permitted.
- Diabetes medications: Consult your doctor. Generally, do not take your morning diabetes medication (tablets or insulin) until after the blood sample has been taken and eat immediately afterward, to avoid hypoglycemia during fasting.
- Cholesterol-lowering medications: If you are taking cholesterol-lowering medications (statins), you can continue to take them as prescribed by your doctor, as fasting does not affect their effectiveness.
- Physical activity: Avoid strenuous exercise 24 hours before the examination.
