A postprandial plasma glucose (PPG) test measures blood glucose concentration a specific time after a meal (usually two hours after the first bite). It reflects the body's ability to efficiently produce insulin and the cells' response to it in processing glucose from food. This measurement is sensitive for detecting impaired glucose tolerance, which may be normal when fasting.
