- A normal meal containing carbohydrates (equivalent to about 75-100 grams of carbohydrates) should be consumed to stimulate an appropriate blood sugar response.
- The time for taking the sample is calculated from the beginning of the meal (first bite), not from the end.
- The specified time (e.g., exactly two hours after) for taking the sample must be strictly adhered to in order to obtain a meaningful reading.
