Conditions & Notices

  • Routine fasting is not required, but fasting for 8-12 hours is preferred to reduce the likelihood of lipemia.
  • Avoid anticoagulants: Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking. The blood test should be performed before starting warfarin treatment, or 2-3 weeks after stopping it, as warfarin lowers blood pressure.
  • Sample required: Whole blood plasma with sodium citrate anticoagulant (light blue tube). The plasma must be rapidly centrifuged (within 1 hour) and frozen if not analyzed immediately.
