  • The timing of morning sample collection (crucial for cortisol): The sample should be taken between 7 and 9 a.m. This is the most important condition for obtaining a meaningful cortisol reading.
  • Rest before the sample is drawn: Arrive at the lab and sit quietly for 15-30 minutes before the sample is drawn. Avoid running or exerting yourself before the test.
  • Fasting: Fasting is not mandatory for this package, but fasting for 4-6 hours is recommended for more consistent results. Water is permitted.
  • Avoid nighttime stress: Try to get a normal night's sleep before the exam. Avoid staying up late or engaging in strenuous activities at night.
  • Avoid supplements: Stop taking magnesium supplements 48-72 hours before the test to get an accurate reading of the baseline level.
