- Fasting for 6-8 hours is required before the procedure, as is required for any procedure under local anesthesia or light sedation.
- Blood thinners (such as aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin) should be stopped well in advance of the procedure, as instructed by the doctor, to reduce the risk of bleeding.
- It is necessary to perform blood clotting tests (PT, PTT, platelets) before the biopsy to ensure the integrity of the clotting factors.
- The need for complete bed rest for 6-24 hours after the procedure for monitoring and prevention of bleeding.
