Conditions & Notices
- Routine fasting is not required, but it is preferable to avoid foods high in histamine (such as fermented cheeses, canned fish, processed meats) a day before the examination if it is for non-acute diagnostic purposes.
- Critical timing: In cases of severe reaction, the sample must be taken immediately upon the appearance of symptoms and the laboratory must be notified of the emergency so that it can be treated immediately.
- Specific sample preparation: The test requires collecting blood in refrigerated tubes containing a suitable anticoagulant (such as EDTA), separating the plasma by immediate freezing (in a refrigerated centrifuge) within minutes of blood collection, and then immediately freezing it at -70°C or lower until the time of analysis. This must be arranged in advance with the laboratory.
