Osmotic Fragility Test Price | Lahalak Platform
Specialized analysis to diagnose causes of hemolytic anemia and jaundice. It measures red blood cell resistance to breakdown, helping identify hereditary conditions like hereditary spherocytosis.
Scientific name: Osmotic Fragility Test
The osmotic fragility test is a laboratory test that measures the susceptibility of red blood cells to lysis (hemolysis) when exposed to decreasing concentrations of sodium chloride solution (saline solution). Increased fragility (hemolysis at higher salt concentrations) reflects the presence of spherical or small, fragile red blood cells, as in fa...

Conditions & Notices
- Fasting is not required. A blood sample is drawn into a tube containing an anticoagulant (heparin or ACD) to prevent blood clotting.
- The sample must be processed and the test performed on the same day (within a few hours of the blood being drawn) to obtain accurate results, as delaying the test may lead to misleading results.
- The laboratory should be informed if the patient has recently received a blood transfusion, as this will affect the results.
