Conditions & Notices
- Fasting is not required, as the sample is a surgical tissue sample.
- The tissue sample must be immediately preserved in 10% formalin.
- This analysis is requested almost routinely when a deep or large lipoma is present, or any lipoma suspected of malignancy.
- It is often requested as part of a diagnostic package for soft tissue tumors, and is accompanied by a request for FISH testing for MDM2 hyperplasia at the same time or later for confirmation.
