Conditions & Notices
- It does not require strict fasting, but it is preferable to draw the sample in the case of basic fasting to avoid any effect of chylomicrons (post-meal fat) on some tests.
- Inform your doctor and technician of all medications you are taking, especially blood thinners (such as warfarin and heparin) and certain psychiatric medications, as these may affect the results. You may need to stop taking some medications for a specific period before the test, under medical supervision.
- A positive result must be confirmed by a second test at least 12 weeks later to confirm its persistence.
- The sample must be taken and handled with extreme care to prevent it from clotting or disintegrating, which could spoil the result.
