A precise test helping differentiate between slow-growing lymphomas like Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, providing a solid basis for informed treatment decisions and effective long-term monitoring of the patient's condition.
Scientific name: Immunohistochemistry (IHC) for CD23
Immunohistochemistry for CD23 detects the expression of CD23 protein (FcεRII), a low-affinity receptor for Immunoglobulin E. It is a particularly useful marker in diagnosing B-cell Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (B-CLL) and differentiating it from other B-cell lymphomas. It is also expressed on activated B-cells and some follicular dendritic cells.
