Herpes Virus (HSV 1&2) PCR Test | Lahalak Platform
Rapid and precise detection of HSV-1 and HSV-2 genetic material using PCR technology, providing a definitive diagnosis even during early stages or asymptomatic periods.
Scientific name: Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Types 1 & 2 DNA by PCR
A molecular assay based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the qualitative and differential detection of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and type 2 (HSV-2) DNA in clinical specimens. This technique is the most sensitive for diagnosing active infection, as it can detect very small amounts of the virus in vesicular fluid, body fluids, or lesi...
Included Services
- Receiving and processing two different types of samples (e.g., lesion swab + blood sample, or lesion swab + oral swab).
- DNA extraction from the submitted samples.
- Performing a multiplex polymerase chain reaction (Multiplex PCR) assay to detect and differentiate between HSV-1 and HSV-2.
- The results are analyzed using electrophoresis or Real-Time PCR technology.
- A detailed report showing the result (negative/positive) and the type detected (HSV-1, HSV-2, or both) for each sample.
- Consult with an infectious disease or dermatology specialist to interpret the overall results.
- Personal support services from Halak.

Conditions & Notices
- • Fasting is not required, unless the sample to be drawn is blood.
- • Taking the sample at the optimal time: from a new lesion (vesicle) within the first 24-72 hours of its appearance, before it dries out or forms a crust.
- Use sterile and dedicated sample collection tools provided by the laboratory (swabs in special viral transport medium VTM).
- For reproductive samples: It is preferable that the swab be taken by a health practitioner.
- Rapid transport of samples to the laboratory (within 24 hours) while keeping them refrigerated (2-8°C).
