- Fasting is not required.
- To take the sample correctly: Scrape the active edge of the skin lesion or the infected part of the nail to obtain scabs or small fragments and place them in a sterile container or directly onto a slide.
- Avoid applying antifungal ointments or creams to the affected area for at least 48 hours before taking the sample.
- The test can be performed on an outpatient basis, and the results are immediate.
