This diagnostic laboratory package focuses on assessing the physiological response to chronic psychological and physical stress. It includes measuring total serum cortisol, the primary steroid hormone secreted by the adrenal glands in response to stress, which regulates metabolism, the immune system, and blood pressure. It also includes measuring serum magnesium, an essential mineral involved in hundreds of enzymatic reactions, including those that regulate nerve and muscle function and energy production. A complete blood count (CBC) is performed for general assessment and to rule out anemia, which can cause symptoms similar to stress-induced fatigue.
