Serum Fructosamine Test

The fructosamine serum test is a quantitative measurement of total fructosamine levels in the blood. Fructosamine is formed when glucose binds to proteins in the plasma (especially albumin) via a non-enzymatic process called glycation. The fructosamine level reflects the average blood glucose concentration over the two to three weeks prior to the test, which is the half-life of the target proteins.
