An integrated microbiological test consisting of two stages: Culture: The clinical sample (blood, urine, pus, etc.) is placed on specific growth media under suitable conditions (aerobic, anaerobic) to stimulate the growth of any present bacteria or fungi. The microorganism is then isolated and identified. Susceptibility Testing: Testing the sensitivity of the isolated microorganism to various antimicrobial agents (antibiotics, antifungals). This is usually done by placing antibiotic discs on the growth medium or using automated systems, and determining the extent of growth inhibition. The result is reported as "sensitive," "resistant," or "intermediate" for each antimicrobial agent.
