This laboratory package includes measuring the levels of five serum biomarkers (tumor markers) relevant to common cancers in men. These include: alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), associated with testicular cancer (especially non-sperm cell germ cell tumors) and liver cancer; carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), associated with colorectal, lung, and pancreatic cancers; CA 15-3, associated with breast cancer (rare in men but may be elevated); CA 19-9, associated with cancers of the pancreas, bile ducts, and gastrointestinal tract; and total prostate-specific antigen (PSA), the primary marker for prostate cancer. These results should be interpreted with extreme caution and should not be used for routine screening without a medical indication.
