Anti-sperm antibodies (ASA) testing is an immunological test that detects and/or measures the presence of antibodies (usually IgG and IgA, and sometimes IgM) directed against antigens on the surface of sperm. The test can be performed on a man's semen sample (to detect antibodies bound to the sperm itself) or on the man's or woman's blood serum (to detect circulating antibodies). These antibodies interfere with sperm function by causing clumping (agglomeration), reducing motility, or preventing fertilization, which can lead to immunological infertility.
