Anaerobic blood culture is a microbiological test performed on a blood sample cultured in a special oxygen-free nutrient medium designed for the growth and multiplication of obligate anaerobic bacteria. It aims to isolate and identify bacteria that cause bacteremia or sepsis and cannot be detected by conventional aerobic culture methods.
