This test measures blood plasma glucose levels exactly two hours after starting a standardized test meal (containing a specific amount of carbohydrates, usually 75 grams) or after a normal meal. It is also known as postprandial glucose. This test assesses the body's ability to release insulin and remove excess glucose from the blood after a dietary challenge and is a key component in diagnosing prediabetes and diabetes, as well as monitoring blood glucose control in patients.
