PAS Special Tissue Stain - Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS) Special Stain

PAS dyeing is a chemical textile dyeing technique based on a chemical reaction: periodic acid oxidizes sugar molecules to produce aldehydes, which then bind to Schiff's reagent to form an insoluble purple/red compound. Therefore, any fabric containing high levels of sugars (especially 1,2-glycol groups) will appear stained with this characteristic color.
