The Clostridium difficile toxin B (CDB) toxin test is an immunoassay (usually ELISA or EIA) that detects the presence of CDB toxin in a stool sample. CDB toxin, along with CDA toxin, is the direct cause of damage to the intestinal lining and Clostridium difficile-associated colitis (CDAD), which ranges from mild diarrhea to severe pseudomembranous colitis.
