Gestational Diabetes Screening - Glucose Challenge Test (GCT), 50g

The 50g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT 50g), also known as the glucose challenge test (GCT), is a screening test, not a diagnostic one. It is performed without fasting; the pregnant woman drinks a solution containing 50 grams of glucose, and her blood plasma glucose level is measured after just one hour. If the value is high, this indicates the need for a more accurate diagnostic test (OGTT 100g).
