- Fasting: Not required, but the usual diet should be followed during the period of combining foods without deliberately increasing or decreasing any particular foods.
- Sample collection: Collect urine accurately for 24 consecutive hours in the designated container from the laboratory (often with an acidic preservative).
- Avoid vitamin C: Dietary supplements or medications containing high doses of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) should be avoided before and during the collection period, as it is partially converted to oxalates.
