Conditions & Notices
- Fasting is not required, but mercury-rich fish and seafood should be avoided for 72 hours before the sample is collected, as they slightly increase organic mercury in urine.
- It is strongly recommended that a full 24-hour urine sample be collected in a metal-free container provided by the laboratory. If this is not possible, a random sample can be collected and the result corrected for the urine creatinine concentration.
- Avoid contamination: Do not use cosmetics or creams containing mercury on the skin before and during sample collection.
