  • Collecting a clean midstream urine sample is mandatory to obtain a reliable result.
  • The first morning urine sample (first urination after waking up) is preferred.
  • The sample must be collected before starting any antibiotic treatment, because even a single dose may inhibit growth and give a false negative result.
  • Wash your hands and genital area thoroughly before combining.
  • Seal the container tightly and deliver it to the laboratory as soon as possible (within one hour). If delivery is delayed, it must be refrigerated (for less than 24 hours).
