Thyroglobulin Antigen Test | Lahalak Platform
Essential analysis for monitoring thyroid cancer patients post-surgery, serving as a precise indicator for early detection of tumor recurrence and ensuring the patient's health stability.
Scientific name: Thyroglobulin Antigen Test
A quantitative test to measure the concentration of thyroglobulin (Tg) protein in blood serum. This protein is produced exclusively by the follicular cells of the thyroid gland. After total thyroidectomy and radioactive isotope therapy, its level should become undetectable; an elevated level thereafter is a sign of disease recurrence.
Included Services
- A detailed analysis to measure thyroglobulin (Tg) protein levels in the blood
- Consult an endocrinologist or oncologist to interpret the results.
- Personal support services from Lahalak

Conditions & Notices
- Routine fasting is not required, but the treating physician's instructions must be followed precisely, especially regarding the timing of taking the thyroid hormone replacement dose.
- Thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb) should be routinely measured in the same sample to avoid false results.
- The timing of the test is very important for follow-up. The doctor may order the test with a high (stimulating) or low (suppressive) TSH level, depending on the follow-up protocol.
- The laboratory and the doctor must be informed of any previous radioactive iodine treatment or surgical procedures.
