Conditions & Notices
- Preparation instructions depend on the type of sample required:
- If the sample is from serum: Fasting for 8-12 hours is usually required.
- If the sample is of red blood cells (usually preferable): a special tube (EDTA) should be used to separate the red blood cells.
- Strenuous physical activity should be avoided for 24-48 hours prior to the examination, as intense exercise may temporarily alter antioxidant levels.
- The doctor should be informed about all dietary supplements (especially antioxidants such as vitamin C, E, and glutathione compounds) being taken, as they may affect the outcome.
