- It is very important to collect the sample before starting any antibiotic treatment, as taking it may kill the causative bacteria and lead to a false negative result.
- Collect the sample in the sterile container provided by the laboratory, and avoid contaminating it with urine or toilet water.
- Seal the container tightly and deliver it to the laboratory as soon as possible (within one hour if possible). If delivery is delayed, it can be stored in a refrigerator (4°C) for no more than 24 hours, unless otherwise instructed.
