  • Fasting is not required, as the sample is tissue (lung or kidney biopsy).
  • The tissue sample must be immediately preserved in 10% formalin.
  • This analysis is routinely requested on all cases of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that have not yet been classified, especially on small (fine-needle) biopsies.
  • It is almost always required with TTF-1 as part of the standard package for classifying lung tumors.
