Medical Service Information

Conditions & Notices

  • Fasting is not required, as the sample is a tissue sample (biopsy).
  • The biopsy sample must be immediately preserved in 10% formalin.
  • In cervical biopsies, P16 is routinely requested in cases of CIN2 or when there is uncertainty in the classification of the degree of dysplasia.
  • In head and neck cancers, all cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsils and base of the tongue are required for predictive classification.
