- The sample must be taken by a trained healthcare provider, from the active lesion in its early stages (fresh blisters or ulcers) to ensure the highest accuracy.
- Fasting is not required for sample collection. For genital swabs, it is advisable to avoid applying creams or lotions to the area for several hours before the sample is taken.
