HCV Viral Load PCR Test | Lahalak Medical Platform
The cornerstone of Hepatitis C treatment, accurately measuring viral load to confirm the success of modern therapies and reaching the stage of complete cure.
Scientific name: Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Viral Load (Quantitative PCR)
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a highly sensitive molecular assay designed to detect and quantify hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA in blood plasma. The result is expressed as the number of viral copies per milliliter (copies/mL) or in international units per milliliter (IU/mL). This assay is considered the...

Conditions & Notices
- Fasting is not required, and the sample can be taken at any time.
- A blood sample is drawn into a special tube to preserve the RNA (usually an EDTA tube - purple, with rapid plasma separation).
- The sample must be transported to the laboratory and processed quickly (usually within 4-6 hours) or frozen, because RNA degrades easily.
- The laboratory must be informed if the patient is receiving antiviral treatment.
