Conditions & Notices
- Fasting is not required, as the sample is tissue or cell-based.
- For fine-needle aspiration (FNA) thyroid biopsies, the sample must be converted into a cell block to enable IHC to be performed on it.
- This analysis is usually requested as part of a diagnostic package for thyroid nodules (with Galectin-3, CK19) or mesotheliomas package.
- The location of the sample and the diagnostic target must be clearly defined (distinguishing PTC from benign, or distinguishing mesothelioma from metastasis).
