Conditions & Notices

  • Fasting: It is recommended to fast for 8-12 hours before the sample is taken to obtain accurate results for iron, fat, and glucose (if measured). Water is permitted.
  • Timing of the sample: It is preferable to draw the sample in the morning when iron levels are at their highest.
  • Avoid supplements: Stop taking iron supplements or multivitamins containing iron or B12 24-48 hours before the test to ensure baseline levels are measured, unless otherwise advised by the doctor.
  • Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking, especially anticoagulants that may affect your PTT.
