- Fasting is not required to take the sample.
- For the urine sample (first batch): It is preferable that the sample be from the first urination in the morning, or after holding urine for at least one hour.
- For women: It is preferable to avoid having the test done during menstruation. It is also advised to refrain from using vaginal douches, creams, or suppositories for 24 hours before the swab is taken.
- You should inform your doctor about any medications you are taking, especially antibiotics.
