Two serological tests are used to detect and measure the titer of immunoglobulin M (IgM) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies against yellow fever virus (YFV). IgG is used to assess the immune response after vaccination (which usually confers lifelong immunity) or previous infection, while IgM is used to diagnose active acute infection, a severe viral hemorrhagic disease transmitted by mosquitoes.
