Tumor Activity Marker Test - Tissue Polypeptide Antigen (TPA) Test

This test measures the concentration of tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA) in blood serum. TPA is a tumor-associated antigen composed of polypeptide chains (TPA-B1, TPA-C1, TPA-M3) derived from the cytoskeleton (cytokeratins 8, 18, and 19) that are released during cell division and proliferation, not exclusively from cancer cells. It is used as a non-specific indicator of cell growth and proliferation.
