A serum cryoglobulin test is an analysis that detects and classifies abnormal antibodies (immunoglobulins) that precipitate or coagulate at low temperatures (below 37°C) and liquefy upon heating. Their presence in the blood (cryoglobulinemia) is associated with a range of symptoms resulting from the deposition of these immune complexes in small blood vessels, particularly in the skin, joints, and kidneys.
