Plasma Oxalate Level Test - Plasma Oxalic Acid (Oxalate) Test

This test measures the concentration of oxalic acid in blood plasma. Oxalate is a byproduct of the metabolism of certain substances (such as glycolates) and cannot be broken down by the body, so it is filtered by the kidneys. Abnormally high levels can lead to the deposition of calcium oxalate crystals in the kidneys and other tissues, causing serious illnesses.
