Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT BASIC) is an advanced molecular test based on next-generation sequencing (NGS) to detect fragments of fetal DNA (cffDNA) that are freely circulating in maternal blood plasma. The test aims to assess the risk of the fetus having the most common trisomy: trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome), and trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome). It also detects sex chromosomal abnormalities (such as Turner syndrome and Klinefelter syndrome).
