Immune System Balance Test - Interleukin-10 (IL-10) Test

This laboratory test measures the concentration of the cytokine interleukin-10 (IL-10) in blood serum or other body fluids. IL-10 is an anti-inflammatory cytokine produced primarily by type 2 helper T cells (Th2), regulatory T cells (Tregs), and macrophages. It inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as TNF-α, IL-1, and IL-6) and impairs the activation of immune cells, thus playing a crucial role in terminating the inflammatory response and preventing autoimmunity.
