PLAP Germ Cell Tumor Test - Immunohistochemistry (IHC) for Placental Alkaline Phosphatase (PLAP)

Immunohistochemical (IHC) assays detect the expression of placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP). PLAP is a cytoplasmic and membrane marker of placental cells (chorionic cell) and certain germ cell tumors. It is primarily used to aid in the diagnosis of seminomas in men and other germ cell tumors, as well as to differentiate choriocarcinoma and germ cell ovarian tumors.
