Accurate Melanoma Diagnosis - Immunohistochemistry: HMB-45

An immunohistochemical (IHC) diagnostic package designed to detect tumors derived from melanocytes (pigment cells). The package focuses primarily on measuring the expression of HMB-45, an antibody that recognizes the gp100 antigen found in pre-melanosomal granules, making it a highly sensitive and specific marker for active melanocytes (especially in malignant melanoma). The package also includes testing for S-100 (a highly sensitive but less specific marker for melanocytes), Melan-A (MART-1) (a specific marker for mature melanocytes), and SOX10 (a nuclear transcription factor specific for melanocytes and glial cells). The package aims to confirm the histological diagnosis of melanoma and rule out other diagnoses (such as sarcoma and heterozygous melanoma).
