Immunohistochemical (IHC) testing for immunoglobulin A (IgA) aims to detect the presence and distribution of this type of antibody in tissue samples, particularly from the kidneys and skin. It is primarily used to diagnose IgA nephropathy (Buerger's disease) by detecting IgA deposits in the glomerular mesanium, and also in the diagnosis of dermatitis herpetiformis associated with celiac disease.
