Bile Duct Health Test - Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) Test

Measurement of Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) enzyme activity in serum. This enzyme is found in high concentrations in liver, especially in epithelial cells of bile ducts, as well as in kidneys and pancreas. Considered very sensitive to any bile flow disturbance (cholestasis) and its elevation is often the first laboratory sign of biliary tract problems or chronic alcohol consumption.
